Why Construction Companies Need CPR, First Aid & BBP Training
By Sheila Gemma · February 24, 2026
Construction sites are among the highest-risk work environments in California. Falls, equipment injuries, electrical incidents, and crush injuries can occur without warning, and access to emergency medical services is often delayed by site location, access roads, or the scale of the jobsite. Having trained first aid and CPR responders on-site is not just best practice — it is a legal requirement.
Cal/OSHA & Federal OSHA Requirements
California Code of Regulations Title 8, Section 8351 requires that each worksite maintain enough trained first aid and CPR providers so that a seriously injured person can be reached within 5 minutes, with certifications from the AHA, Red Cross, or equivalent organization. Federal OSHA 29 CFR 1926.50 independently requires that at least one person trained in first aid, including CPR, be available on any construction jobsite that is not in near proximity to a medical facility. Both standards apply to California construction employers.
AHA-Certified CPR & First Aid Training
Our AHA-certified instructors provide CPR and First Aid training suited to the construction environment, covering cardiac emergency response, severe bleeding control, fracture and spinal injury first aid, heat emergency response, and AED use. Certifications are issued same-day, with official AHA eCards delivered digitally within a few days.
Common Emergencies on Construction Sites
Site supervisors and designated first aid providers should be prepared to respond to traumatic injuries from falls and equipment, electrical shock, crush injuries, heat exhaustion and heat stroke, eye and chemical injuries, and cardiac events.
Bloodborne Pathogen Training
Designated first aid responders on construction sites have occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials when responding to traumatic injuries. OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogen standard (29 CFR 1910.1030) requires documented annual BBP training for all covered employees.
On-Site Training
We bring training to your jobsite, yard, or office and can schedule sessions across crews and shifts to ensure every location maintains compliant coverage. Training documentation is provided for Cal/OSHA compliance records.
